Who we are...
We  are the dance team at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. The team consists of 18 dancers that perform at all men and women basketball games, all football games, pep rallies, Midnight Madness , Freshman Convocation and many other school events. We also make special appearances at community  events throughout the year such as the Harley Davidson Kids Holiday Show , Zo's Summer Groove, The Early Show, Fox Sports Latin Awards, HIlton MIami Hotel and  the Latin Grammy Awards Show.

In March, the team travels with the basketball teams to cheer them on as they compete in the Sun Belt Championship Games. The 2008  championships will be held in Alabama ! In the past they have traveled to Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky  and Louisiana!

Team History
The team has been at FIU since 1989. The first squad was called the Sun Blazer  Dancers. Since then, the team has gone through many changes, even being called the Panther Dancers.  in an attempt to rebuild the squad.  In 2001, the Golden Dazzlers were back.  After many years of back and forth placing throughout many school departments, the squad was finally recognized under the school's athletics department where they are considered the only official  university dance team. With the support of the athletics department the program has grown tremendously  since it began  and is now one of the top  college dance team programs in the nation.

The best way to explain the kind of dancing we do is to go through our seasons. Since we dance for so many different kinds of events our style changes all the time. For football, our style is influenced by the NFL; hair down, jazzy pom routines, big halftime shows, boots and kicklines. For school appearances (pep rally, etc..), usually  hip hop routines ,some technique and no poms. For basketball we have a combination of everything; Sideline routines with poms, time-out routines without them and performed in jazz, pom and/or hip hop styles. Basketball halftimes are usually fast paced with a lot of technique and  different uniformsl. For competition, perfection is key. We follow the NDA guidelines of 30 seconds of pom, jazz and hip hop and technique throughout the routine.  It's fair to say that, we do it all!
