| 1. Who can audition? You may audition if: - If you are a full time (12 credits) FIU Student from any of the campuses - If you have been accepted to attend beginning Summer or Fall 2006* * (High school seniors may audition as long as you have been accepted into the university.* *)* *PROOF OF ACCEPTANCE REQUIRED - If you have health insurance. ** Will need a copy of insurance card. - You are willing to give 110% dedication to the team. 2. Can I pre-register for auditions? yes. Please see link below or click here to fill out registration form. 3. Do I need to pre-register? No , you may also bring your completed form to auditions with you. However, pre-registering expedites your registration process when you get there. It is much easier to do it ahead of time. It is strongly recommended. 4. Do you offer an audition clinic? only for the main Spring auditions. 5. What do I need to bring on audition day? You need to bring your $ 5.00 cash audition fee, your completed registration form (unless you are pre-registered), a copy of your acceptance letter into the university or your current Panther ID# if you are already an FIU student, a copy of your current health insurance card and 2 pictures of yourself ( a head shot and a full body shot). 6. What do I need to wear on audition day? Dancers are encouraged to wear something that makes them stand out. Dress to impress. You MUST wear a torso bearing top. Proper dance shoes must be worn. NO street clothes allowed, NO baggy shirts and NO street shoes allowed either. Hair should be worn lose and not picked up. You should also wear full make up and most importantly a big smile. 7. Do I need to bring my own routine? yes you do. The routine music must be in a cd format. The music choice can be of any style you choose. It must NOT include any profanity or cursing. Routine cannot exceed 1 minute and 15 seconds. Routine does NOT need to be original. It can be something you have done before or copied. We are not judging originality, we are judging PERFORMANCE! 8. What should I expect from the audition process? This is the audition format for 2006 Late Summer Auditions You must call and make an appointment for your private audition. YOu will be asked to perform a solo routine. You will then be asked to show: Triple Turns to both sides Fuette/A la seconde turns (8 to each side) Toe Touch Switch Leap to both sides Russian to both sides (leap in second) Leg grab for an eight count on any side Leg grab tilt to any side Any additional technique that you would like to show. You will be told after your audition whether you have made the squad or not. 9. What if I don't have a lot of technique but I am a really good dancer, can I still audition? We welcome everyone to come out and audition. However, at this time we are only auditioning Levels 3 & 4 dancers. If you do not have a lot of experience we suggest auditioning next April 2007. We also welcome everyone that has not had technique training to take our clinics workshops to help them get ready for auditions. We know potential when we see it! 10. Does this team compete? yes. The team has been competing at the NDA Collegiate Dance Championships in Daytona for the past 5 years. Making the squad DOES NOT guarantee you a spot on the nationals team. The entire team attends but only about 14 compete. Auditions for the competition team are held during the summer and require advanced technique knowledge. 11. How many dancers are you picking? At this time we are looking to fill 4 spots. 12. Can my mom/boyfriend/ friend watch auditions? yes, there is a $ 10.00 spectator fee for those NOT auditioning that would like to watch. 13.
